Blessing the Winter Blah’s

“I hate this time of year! Nothing’s happening–no holidays, nothing to look forward to.”  I hear this often between January and April, but personally, find it a wonderful, restful time precisely because there are no formal holidays. There is a time in our lives for busyness and a time for mental and emotional rest. The best self happiness usually comes from a leisurely visit with a friend, picking up that novel that has been calling, cleaning out the junk closet on a snowy day. The quiet, the mundane, the unexciting give meaning amid the commercial and shallow. Remember this when you feel antsy…bored, or the day is grey. Look around and appreciate the blessings that patiently await your notice.
